Beginning his life as Bruce Wayne, his parents were killed right before his eyes by a petty criminal. From that time onwards, the mind of the young Bruce Wayne was darkened forever. Vowing to cleanse Gotham of all the corruption, Bruce travelled throughout the world studying all related to detective work and martial arts.Seeing that most of the criminals were a superstitious,cowardly lot Bruce donned a bat like suit to become more intimating and frightening to the criminals. The reason behind wearing a bat like suit is the result of his encounter with the flying rodent once in the past. Lacking super human powers Batman makes use of his intelligence, fighting techniques, his utility belt and various gadgets to fight crime. He has allies in the form of Nightwing, Robin, Bat Girl, Huntress,Azrael, Commissioner Gordon and Oracle. His rogue’s gallery is one of the most popular in the comics world. First and foremost is Joker, a clown like psychopath who has been responsible for death of the second Robin and for crippling Barbara Gordon, the then bat girl. The Joker is the Dark Knight’s arch nemesis like Lex Luthor is Superman’s arch enemy. Others include the coin flipping Two-Face, the seductive Poison Ivy, Mr Freeze, Scarecrow, the immortal Ra’s Al- Ghul, Clay-Face, Killer Croc and “The only man to break the Batman”- the monstrous Bane.
